Notice of Privacy Practices

THIS NOTICE DESCRIBES HOW MEDICAL INFORMATION ABOUT A PATIENT MAY BE USED AND DISCLOSED AND HOW A PATIENT CAN ACCESS THIS INFORMATION. PLEASE REVIEW IT CAREFULLY.

Autism Behavioral & Educational Services LLC (“ABES”) understands the importance of protecting the privacy and confidentiality of patient information. During the course of providing services, ABES may collect health, medical, behavioral, scheduling, billing, and other personally identifiable information related to patients and their families. This information is referred to as “Protected Health Information” (“PHI”).

This Notice of Privacy Practices explains how ABES may use and disclose Protected Health Information, the patient’s privacy rights under applicable law, and ABES’s legal duties regarding the protection of PHI.

ABES is required by law to maintain the privacy and security of Protected Health Information in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) and applicable state privacy laws. ABES may only use or disclose PHI as permitted or required by law and will make reasonable efforts to limit disclosures to the minimum necessary to accomplish the intended purpose.

Electronic Communications & SMS Messaging

ABES may communicate with patients, parents/guardians, caregivers, and staff through electronic methods including phone calls, email, and SMS/text messaging for purposes related to treatment, scheduling, appointment reminders, cancellations, operational updates, billing coordination, and other healthcare operations.

Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Recipients may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP or request assistance by replying HELP.

ABES does not sell, share, or disclose mobile phone numbers, SMS consent, or text messaging opt-in information to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Please note that the privacy protections described in this Notice do not apply to information that has been de-identified in accordance with applicable law.
